YENİSEY Journal of Language and Literature is an international peer-reviewed, scientific, and academic journal that publishes scientific articles undergoing a double-blind peer review process. Manuscripts submitted to our journal are evaluated and decided upon through the following stages:
Evaluation Stages and Process Workflow
1. Initial Screening and Plagiarism Check: Manuscripts submitted to the journal undergo an initial screening by the Editorial Board regarding their suitability for the journal's scope, compliance with academic writing guidelines, and similarity rates (plagiarism scan). This process takes a maximum of 15 days. Manuscripts that fail the initial screening are returned to the author without proceeding to the peer review process.
2. Reviewer Assignment: For manuscripts passing the initial screening, at least two expert reviewers are assigned based on the content of the study and the reviewers' fields of expertise.
3. Peer Review Timelines: The peer review process is conducted by invitation. An invited reviewer must notify the editor within 15 days whether they can conduct the review. Manuscripts with no response are redirected to a new reviewer. Reviewers who accept the invitation have 30 days to complete their evaluation reports.
4. Decision-Making Processes: The evaluation process is conducted with the principle of double-blind peer review; the identities of the reviewers and authors are mutually kept confidential. A manuscript is accepted for publication with positive reports from two reviewers. A manuscript receiving negative reports from two reviewers is rejected. In case of a discrepancy between the two reviewers (one acceptance, one rejection), the manuscript is sent to a third reviewer, or the Editorial Board makes the final decision by examining the existing reports.
Peer Review Principles and Ethical Guidelines
Confidentiality: Manuscripts sent to reviewers for evaluation must be treated as confidential documents. The works must not be shown to others, and their contents must not be discussed. The confidentiality rule also applies to those who decline to review. Additionally, all peer review reports are submitted anonymously electronically. Due to the double-blind method, the names of the reviewers are not specified in the reports or the journal. (Upon request, a written document regarding their contribution can be provided to the reviewers.)
Communication: Reviewers cannot communicate directly with the authors. Evaluation forms and reviewer reports are transmitted to the authors via the journal management system solely through the editors.
Principle of Objectivity: Personal criticism of the authors must be avoided during the evaluation process. Evaluations must be objective and expressed in a constructive, academic language that contributes to the improvement of the studies.
Acknowledgment of Sources: Reviewers are obligated to notify the authors if there are citations not specified as references in the study. Reviewers must promptly inform the editors if they notice any similarity or plagiarism in the manuscript with any previously published study or information.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest: Reviewers must decline the evaluation and inform the editors if they have any connection or conflict of interest with the author(s) whose work they are assigned to review. Reviewers cannot use unpublished works or sections of works submitted for evaluation in their own research without the written consent of the author(s).
